Greek Isles

The Greek Isles are located in southeastern Europe, Greece is one the most popular holiday destinations in the world—for good reason.
Greek Isles, all 6000 of them of which 227 are inhabited, are lined with golden stretches of sand with dunes, sheltered bays and coves and coastal caves with steep rocks and black volcanic soil. With the breath-taking scenery of island paradises such as Crete, Mykonons and Santorini is a perfect back drop for swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling and water skiing, sailing and windsurfing.

Greek Isles

The Greek Isles is one of the most Romantic Destinations, attracting Honeymooners and Destination Weddings, with its spotless sands and clear-blue water abound. The landscape offers a picturesque variety, from whitewashed homes and blue-domed churches to neoclassical architecture and traditional authentic villages in the mountainous areas. The Greek cuisine will reward even the most demanding visitors and definitely those who appreciate simple and good quality food (after all, the famous Cretan diet is the cornerstone of the Mediterranean diet). The country’s vibrant nightlife is famous and includes a great variety of clubs and bars.

Some of our top recommended Greek islands to explore:

  • Athens- explore its historic center which was converted into a two-mile pedestrian zone that leads to major archelogical sites with its beautiful ancient landscape, where you will find Acropolis, the Agora and the Areopagus, the hills and municipalities of ancient Athens and more.
  • Crete- Take a day trip to Gramvousa Island, located off the north-west coast of Crete. Gramvousa is an uninhibited island which is only accessible by boat. See remains of a Venetian fort, which was occupied by pirates during the Greek War of Independence.
  • Mykonos- spend the day exploring this quaint town with its cobblestone streets, remarkable architecture, with stunning views, a whitewashed paradise in the heart of the Cyclades. End the day in Little Venice overlooking the windmills while the sunsets, one of the most romantic places there!
  • Santorini- Take in breathtaking panoramas from a hilltop monastery, roam the serene streets of a quiet village, and kick back on a black sand beach before a winetasting and tour of an ancient archaeological site.

San Ignacio, Belize

San Ignacio is located in Belize’s western region, set against the lush green hillside 70 miles west of Belize City and just 10 miles from the border of Guatemala.

Its loaded with culture with its historical sites, wooden buildings set against the green hillside, the area has a real country feel to it with its horseback riding, hiking trails, rivers, creeks and mysterious caves, this area of Belize is home to some of the best jungle lodges for that rustic but romantic feel. San Ignacio is a great area to catch excursions to a number of attractions like the Actun Tunichil Muknal and Mountain Pine Forest, Botanical Gardens, Butterfly farms, Barton & Chaa Creek and many ruin sites!San Ignacio - Belize Pyramids

Hardly a beach town, San Ignacio is more of a jungle, inland town but a short drive away from the beautiful beaches of Belize and close to the Mayan ruins, and close to caving, hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, and more.

This is home to some of our favorite resorts or should I say jungle cabanas and lodges!  It really gives you a feeling of being among the jungle and rainforest in one, is the best way to describe this area.
I love putting together honeymoon trips for couples to Belize, I always say that in Belize you really can have it all!
I will usually put our couples inland on the main island of Belize like San Ignacio area for a few days, then island hop them over to one of the outer islands like Ambergris Caye or Caye Caulker…….stay tuned for my blog on those areas, definitely a honeymooners dream paradise duo!
“If your a island hopper that loves adventure, Belize should be on your list of destinations.”
