Some of our top recommended highlights on Cayman Islands:

  • Cayman Brac Caves- The Bluff that runs along the centrer of Cayman Brac is riddled with caves, many of them with tales to tell about the islanders who have sheltered there during hurricanes. One of the popular ones is Bat Cave, which for obvious reasons, is a photo opportunity in the making.
  • Seven Mile Beach- The turquoise waters of Grand Cayman’s West Bay are backed by the long, sandy Seven Mile Beach, and, this glorious stretch of coast retains its idyllic charms, with some of the best snorkeling in all of the islands!
  • Stingray City- Snorkel alongside southern stingrays at Stingray City in North Sound on Grand Cayman. These shallow waters are home to a profusion of stingrays and visitors can get right up close with these otherworldly, gentle creatures.

Bermuda Island

The island of Bermuda is probably best known for two things: lurid, knee-length shorts and the fabled Bermuda Triangle, a stretch of sea where boats and planes are said to have mysteriously disappeared. However, these lazy stereotypes serve only to distract from what is an exceptionally beautiful destination.

Bermuda Island

Bermuda Island is comprised of around 180 islets, this island looks like your archetypal Caribbean retreat with its fine sandy beaches, colorful coral reefs and swaying palms.

A couple of our top recommend highlights on Bermuda Island:
*Visit Hamilton Harbor, where you can cruise around and see the best views of the pretty pastel-painted capital, stopping at Somerset Bridge, the rural village of Somerset, and the Royal Naval Dockyard, some of the finest sights on the island.

*Visit Fort Scaur- a good place to picnic, swim and enjoy the panoramic view of the picturesque Great Sound. Designed so it couldn’t be sighted from the sea, the 19th-century fort was built by the British in case of an American attack on the dockyard. Find the weather stone – its forecasts are never wrong.

*Fort St Catherine- Built in 1614, the largest and most fascinating of the island’s fortifications. Perched above the beach in the north west of the island, the stone ramparts and interior are both well preserved. Inside there is a museum dedicated to Bermuda’s military history.

US Virgin Islands ~ St. Thomas, St. John and Water Island

We fell in LOVE with US Virgin Islands!
St. Thomas and St. John as well as Water Island are amazingly beautiful little islands located in US Virgin Islands!

But, let me tell you how we got up close and personal with these 3 beautiful islands, it was unexpected to say the least!
While we were in  Puerto Rico we caught a Carnival Cruise out of San Juan which was suppose to take us to 6 Southern Caribbean Islands…..
St. Thomas, St. Martin, Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua and St. Kitts!
Well, we made it as far as St. Thomas then the ship caught fire! If you haven’t heard about this you can check out the story here:  http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/09/travel/carnival-cruise-liberty-fire-st-thomas-feat/index.html
While thousands of people were flown home, we decided to stay in St. Thomas and make the best of the situation by not only exploring one island but island hopping some other USVI islands such as, St. John and Water Island! “All 3 beauties but for different reasons, read on for our personal recommendations, insights and photos.”

Starting with breathtaking St. Thomas, with her beautiful white sand beaches, nice boutique resorts, great shops, world winning restaurants, fun pubs, stunning views from the lush hilltops to world class water sports in the crystal clear blue water, there is something for everyone on this jewel of a island, no passport needed!
St. Thomas is home to famous Megan’s Bay, which is a must see when on the isl
and, beautiful soft white sand beach with turquoise water, great for snorkeling or just beaching, you can see some other virgin islands from there in the distance!

St. John was next on our list to explore!
Its easy to get to from St. Thomas, just hop on a ferry for less than 30 minutes and arrive at St. John’s quaint Harbor.

St. John is my personal favorite of the US Virgin Islands, its the smallest, most quaint, friendliest with beautiful white sand beaches, crystal clear water, fun shops, great restaurants, very nice boutique resorts, friendly locals and more than half the island is a protected pristine national park, just waiting to be explored…..they even had my personal daily need, smoothie shops with freshly picked coconut water!!!!!

Next, we found a hidden isle in USVI, the locals told us about, Water Island!
This was one of our favorite beaches, mainly because its called Honeymoon Beach and for good reason, one of the nicest beaches with velvet white sand, pretty remote, as you have to sail in to find it, had a fun food/drink shack, if you ferry in which is about 15 minutes from St. Thomas, Honeymoon Beach will pick you up in a open air truck or golf cart and drop you off at this remote beach, you can also rent a golf cart to explore water island! Love Love Love that island!

Honeymoon Planning - Costa Rica HotspringsPlanning a Stress-Free Honeymoon

For honeymoon planning, the best prices and availability we recommend booking 6-12 months in advance also considering your budget, know that all-inclusive resorts take care of most of your meals, athletic equipment, and tips. Some also include liquor and bar costs as well as resort-specific activities. These arrangements vary widely, however, with some including roundtrip airfare, so find out exactly what is and is not included in the price.
Speaking of budget, we recommend using a honeymoon registry, where your guests can help pay for your honeymoon, check this out here, its free: Honeymoon Registry

Once you have a budget, decide when to go and for how long. Figure out how many vacation days you have and how many you”ll need before the wedding to take care of odds and ends at the last minute. Decide whether you want to leave immediately after your wedding, or wait a few days or weeks to give yourself more time to focus on the trip. It”s usually a good idea to give yourself at least a day or two to continue the honeymoon after returning home, before you head back to work and settle into your everyday life.

Hawaiian Islands – Oahu

Doing what we love to do……….exploring the Islands!Exploring the Hawaiian Islands - Oahu

We were recently traveling through the Hawaiian Islands and wanted to share some of our personal favorite things to do and see. I personally love to go off the beaten path, this is how you find nature at its best, those hidden gems are worth searching for, so don’t be afraid to explore, as long as their is public access and no private property signs, I say GO explore!!!!!!!!!

We will start with Hawaiian Islands- Oahu.
Oahu is the “Heart” of Hawaii with its timeless beauty blended with today’s modern luxuries and the most historic of the islands.
With its perfect 75-85 degree weather, anytime is the right time to visit.

We always start at the beach, the most popular beach in Oahu is famous Waikiki!
We say check out Waikiki, especially if its your first time, its a great area for takingOahu, Hawaii - Surfing surf lessons!

But when your ready to relax and get away from the craziness, head over to north side, where its a little more lush & serene……..
You will find authentic farmers markets where if your like me, you can get your daily coconut water to stay hydrated, yes I’m addicted!Oahu, Hawaii - Exploring - Coconut Water

The north shore waves in Oahu will be the biggest, if your lucky you may see some famous surfers practicing for the world surfing competitions that are often held here.Hawaiian Islands of Oahu - Sunset Beach
They also have the best sunsets on the north side, my favorite is sunset beach, in all my travels, I’ve never seen such stunning sunsets!

Another one of my favorite things to do is go horse back riding on the beach! So relaxing, there are several areas with trails, through pineapple fields all the way down to the beach, you don’t have to be experienced, they have horses for all stages from beginning to experienced, so just do it, even if your not a animal lover, its so fun and peaceful way to experience nature at its best!
Exploring the Hawaiian Islands of Oahu - Horseback RidingI was lucky enough to travel with the Hawaii Tourism on this particular trip to Oahu, so they really showed us the best of everything, such as Helicopter over Oahu, WOW what a amazing experience that was and highly recommended, to be able to see everything from a “birds eye view”like hidden waterfalls that you can only get to by helicopter, remote beaches and even see Pearl Harbor.Explore Oahu, Hawaii - Magnum PI helicopter….and the best part, yes this was Magnum PI helicopter!

We were also very blessed to have been in Oahu for the anniversary of Pearl Harbor!
While I always recommend checking out Pearl Harbor, if you ever happen to be their during the anniversary which is Dec. 7, it is absolutely amazing, to see all the service men & women come together, the families of the survivors, even some of the survivors are still around, I got to meet some amazing survivors, they stole my heart, I didn’t personally have any family in Pearl Harbor, but it didn’t matter, something happens when your there for the anniversary, it leaves you emotional and grateful for our country, it was a teary day and I will always cherish it deep in my heart, much Aloha!

San Salvador & Rum Cay

San Salvador Island is set on the Atlantic side of the Bahamas and is about 200 miles southeast of Nassau. Its only 12 miles long by 5 miles wide, this island has miles of secluded powder white beaches with turquoise blue waters.  It mostly has dune ridges, sparkling lakes which make up about half of the interior of the island, its surrounded by reefs that protect the island.

On this island you feel like you’ve stepped back in time, travel back and discover archaeological evidence of the Lucayan Indians, its been recognized, with much debate, that it was Christopher Columbus  first landfall in the New World in 1492!

San Salvador’s smaller and more remote sister island, Rum Cay, is located 20 miles southwest. It is a relatively flat island with a few rolling hills, the highest of which reaches an altitude of about 120 feet.

Rum Cay was a former pirates haven with its deep reefs and drop-offs. In the north there are caves containing drawings, carvings and artifacts, believed to be from the Arawak Indians! Yes this is the the little island with some history!

The name Rum Cay is believed to have acquired its modern name from a shipwrecked cargo of rum!!

“So for any couple that likes a little history, secluded beaches, beautiful clear water and some island hopping, check this area out, we think you will fall in love all over again.”

San Ignacio, Belize

San Ignacio is located in Belize’s western region, set against the lush green hillside 70 miles west of Belize City and just 10 miles from the border of Guatemala.

Its loaded with culture with its historical sites, wooden buildings set against the green hillside, the area has a real country feel to it with its horseback riding, hiking trails, rivers, creeks and mysterious caves, this area of Belize is home to some of the best jungle lodges for that rustic but romantic feel. San Ignacio is a great area to catch excursions to a number of attractions like the Actun Tunichil Muknal and Mountain Pine Forest, Botanical Gardens, Butterfly farms, Barton & Chaa Creek and many ruin sites!San Ignacio - Belize Pyramids

Hardly a beach town, San Ignacio is more of a jungle, inland town but a short drive away from the beautiful beaches of Belize and close to the Mayan ruins, and close to caving, hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, and more.

This is home to some of our favorite resorts or should I say jungle cabanas and lodges!  It really gives you a feeling of being among the jungle and rainforest in one, is the best way to describe this area.
I love putting together honeymoon trips for couples to Belize, I always say that in Belize you really can have it all!

So much to do in this area, whether your a beach lover, adrenaline junkie, or sports fanatic, you won’t be board unless you want to be!!

There are several beautiful resorts to chose from, whether you want that authentic bungalow feel in the jungle, or just a beautiful resort on the beach, there is something for every taste.

The temperature in this area is betweeen 75-85 degrees depending on the season, with sea breezes to keep you perfectly comfortable, the climate here is more tropical than northern Belize.

Make sure to spend some time at Plancencia village, charming & quaint feel with the pace being laid back until their annual events start up in February for their Sidewalk Arts & Music festival and in June for their Lobsterfest.

If you like nature and want a little adventure, I highly recommend taking a boat tour up Monkey river, check this out at  http://www.monkeyriverbelize.net/tours/monkey-river-tour

Belize is one of my favorite honeymoon spots for adventurous couples, I’ve been there and highly recommend splitting your time between the main island of Belize and outer island of Ambergris Caye.

watch for my next blog on Ambergris Caye, love this little island, feels like time stood still there until then!
